tidbit: Flavour text/descriptions are Lacking energy stats.
This is also all relative to the current gamemode.

Energy is probably in general too plentiful?
2000 To start; chaff costs 250, Energy generation is 50/s? A chaff costs 5 seconds relatively.
Large energy capacitors provide 4500 extra energy. 2000 is probably already too much, or a regeneration rate of 50/s. (big box might have too much energy too)

I'd recommend trying honestly halving everything maybe, Energy generation, Max energy, and capacitor energy.
I unfortunately don't have access to the other modules to put things into perspective, but even if a MDD costs 500, That probably is fair atm with a 1000 energy pool.
Currently if you have eight chaff, You can launch all eight just like that, that's a massive energy pool to just have access to. (or a issue of chaff)

Other thing, Activation cooldowns/general cooldowns.
These probably need to be increased for a few parts, or relevant modules should be mechanically changed to charge to fix this a bit and utilize the energy system.
The lack of a active/reserve energy pool means you can kinda just mash modules atm, you have a ton of working energy. larger cooldowns or a reserve/active energy pool could fix this probably.

quick followup, seems its mostly chaff.

do you mean mostly chaff is problematic levels of energy consumption?

#

Cause right now turbos you can basically just leave them on forever, it's really funny

Yeah turbofuel and chaff are crazy right now

Yeah turbofuel was tuned around a base 1000 energy pool, the pool was doubled for testing and accidentally left in that state for release. We'll have a more accurate energy pool amount for the playtest this weekend

Honestly I feel like even with 1000 pool turbofuel would be way excessive currently; planes where I could only afford to take 1 turbo and had to carefully conserve it and burn for no more than 1-2 seconds at a time to gain altitude or change directions can now leave it on pretty much permanently. So even reducing that to "can leave it on for 60 seconds and do short bursts literally whenever even if low" is a massive buff to every single flyer (particularly in a patch where ground got some significant nerfs).

I think mainly it's just the fact that having a single turbo instantly grants you access to that entire energy pool; currently there is literally no reason you ever wouldn't take one, and very little reason to take more than one.

IMO base energy consumption of turbofuel needs to be way higher, with multiple turbos increasing energy efficiency. This would be similar to how it worked before but just adapted to interface with the new energy system... which I think makes the most sense because that's compatible with its original design.

efficiency part already was there, just descriptions were forgotten about

this particular one actually wasn't converted to energy by me, so would have to look it up

Ahhh I think I know what's up. I set them up to pull new stats once we pushed the update but wasn't around to actually update the stats

#

I'll get things double checked and sorted once I'm back

#

They should be burning 100 energy /s for a single unit, dropping to 60/s with 4 units (max efficiency)

lethal moon
#

Oh yeah that's much more reasonable.

#

Taking regen into account I guess that's effectively 50/s depletion with 1 turbo and 10/s with 4? Probably a little too good still as with a 1000 energy pool that's 20s of burn time with a single turbo, but it does inhibit use of stuff like flares if using it for that long so might be ok. Definitely a lot more sane that whatever it's currently doing anyway lol

from what I remember taking energy by them was supposed to stop regen for that time

lethal moon
#

If energy regen is stopped then I'd be inclined to say the multi-module scaling should probably be improved... hard to justify multiple if quadrupling your investment in them doesn't even halve the consumption; that would be 10s of burn time with one turbo (35 AMPs) or ~16.7s of burn time with four (140 AMPs). 10s baseline looks reasonable but seems like taking more than one would never be worth it.

#

iirc it was mentioned elsewhere that having multiple now increases thrust too but that's a marginal thing at best (drag hardcaps speed quickly) and frankly probably detrimental in most cases due to exacerbating thrust imbalances from damage

If you want increased burn time, by design, capacitors should be better way to go. Efficiency is not only about increasing use time, but also decreasing wait time between uses, because with less energy taken, there is less energy needed to be recharged
