I don't think the current rookie would even remotely suffice for a steam release.

The first thing you default to, as a new player, is use the rookie in battle. You meet anyone's bot and you get absolutely crushed. It uses like 600 cpu, and then another 200 on landmines, and a lot of it's design that does exist is a bit questionable on the whole.

The new rookie should have at least 1300-1500 cpu used on the main bot. I have already submitted a potential rookie in #║showcase message but i understand it might not be the best either for one reason or another

I agree strongly with this. I used like an hour to triforce the gun mounts, went into test mode, the test bots shot directly at my starter bot core and I popped before it did, amost instantly.
It felt like shit, made me quit

it's kinda horrible to have this noob trap just waiting there to discourage players & make them feel terrible about playing
