#Shield plates should be able to always survive 1 hit from a railgun at full health

I feels kinda dumb that aiming for the one part of the one part that is supposed to be the part you avoid aiming at is actually a pretty decent target for rails since you know there's usually something under there

I can put my core under a shield plate, that shit is not blowing it up even if you aim directly at the core

#

Spaced armour is effective against Gauss

Mm, I think this is more just something you need to take into consideration as a builder, i.e. don't attach important stuff right next to shield plates if you want good gauss resistance. They're still okay against gauss as they absorb much of the damage of a shot which otherwise would've done a lot more.

#

If you made them able to completely absorb a gauss shot and survive, aircraft with shield plates would be largely immune to gauss while manoeuvring, and that's no good.

with how shields work rn, this is dumb, the shield regenerate their shield hp within like 3 seconds, so having the shield survive would render the rail gun pretty much useless against any shield, unless you are able to hit the same shield twice in a row

maybe they should be brought to 1 shield hp for like 10 seconds or something

Even that means virtual immunity to gauss for shielded bots at long range

#

Which makes gauss... bad

#

In a component based game like this, not being able to inflict permanent damage is a very big deal

#

And that's especially true of gauss with their long reload - if you dump your magazine on a target far away and fail to damage it, you've not only wasted your shots but also are now largely defenceless against anyone who attacks you for like the next 30 seconds. At that point it's barely worth shooting shielded bots.

#

This was an issue even back in Robocraft, and electroplates there took much longer to regenerate + plates were bigger and combat ranges were shorter so it was easier to land multiple hits.

just aim for the non-armoed parts lol

Again, difficult at Procelio combat ranges.

#

if by Procelio you mean literally Gauss and maybe missile launcher

Well yes, when we are discussing Gauss I am talking about the combat range of Gauss.

inner kiln
#

ok, im just saying, its far from the "procelio range"

We're still experimenting with shields balance wise, but them being weak to gauss is some intended balance design right now.

Their lowish health but speedy, quick recharge make them focus fire checks. It doesn't get much more focused than all the damage all in one shot.

#

If they had that level of damage deadending / shield gating, they'd be strong against both spread / range limited weapons (ELC, Autos) and alpha weapons.

I agree it needs to be focus fire checked

#

but you cant react or get out of LOS when the plate just instantly dies

#

rail clips your butt poking out and 1 shots a part isnt really a focus fire check, thats kinda just a dumb luck shot because you cant be aware of every single possible angle someone is going to look from

its a balancing act yes, but speaking from rc 15 ba experiences, getting poked at range for 5-10% just massively drags out the game because everyone is running back to get base heals so they dont end up crippled from a lucky shot after stuff is exposed
