Updating Immersive & Adult is currently hung
When I started the collection update, I chose Remove All for outdated stuff
Paused the collection install and then resumed it
It seems to be hung again now
also showing the resume button still for some reason, so clicked that again
it checked dependencies and made some progress before hanging again. its also still showing a resume button 😅
Probably shouldnt display these during collection installs as it should be decided by the collection
I disabled all mods and did a purge, and then enabled Immersive & Adult.
It's showing unresolved file conflicts and 2 redundant mods. I'm pretty sure @bleak tapir would have resolved all that
Disabled everything and removed the collection itself, then deleted all downloads, old versions, or anything with an issue then re-added the collection.
Hung here:
Almost all mods have duplicate versions. Guessing this is related to binary patching or something?
Looks like thats a bug
Collection install completed. Here's a before/after restarting Vortex post-install
There's also no unresolved conflicts or redundant mods now
So those were presumably also caused by bugs in updating a collection
Switched to FO4 to update my collection now
Appears to be hung waiting to install
Paused and now being prompted for external changes
Resumed and got prompted if i wanted to replace mods or install as variant, seemingly for just the ones from that image
Then hung again
From Collections -> Mods I removed anything pending an install and ignored anything pending a download
Now its just hung, seemingly both completed and installing 😅
None of these are redundant in my collection
After restarting vortex only one is showing redundant, because it has no files (deleted when i was prompted for external changes)
It seems like either the 1.15.2 -> 1.16 transition breaks stuff, or the collection update process is broken in 1.16 (or earlier too)
Going to repeat this test with only 1.16 to see if 1.15 is relevant
Hey Michael, thanks a lot for the tests man. Here are my takes about this:
- You are right, i pack the collection with all conflictions resolved and ideally one should not see any conflictions. We rarely see any problems about conflictions nowadays and once we have these it is usually caused due to user using an older version of Vortex.
- Also, there should be no redundant mods errors too obviously, as you pointed out both for my and your collections.
Now onto more advanced stuff:
- I use most of the more complex features of collection workshop like binary editing and replicate functions and so on in some cases. For some reason you seem to have gotton some notifications for mods that come with multiple plugins, and it is asking you which ones to pick. That is obviously not the intended way.
- Mods having "duplicate" versions is not the intended way with binary patchings or anything else, this looks straight up like an error. I've seen this happening when someones installation was interrupted and restarted / continued before. I can't tell what went wrong here, but good catch, i like that you mention this.
- You seem to have gotten "collection download failed" and "failed to install dependency" red errors. I'd love to see what it says when you click on more on these ones. I can probably track it from your log, I'll check it out but feel free to show it if you find it first 🙂
Reading all this, my take is:
Vortex stumbled upon a problem at one point on both of these instances. Both of these were about the collection installations getting stopped. Then the rest was filled with problems.
This is also often my experience too. Users who got their installation interrupted in any way always had weird problems and had an unpleasant experience
But in this case you had no choice, and the interruptions occured themselves near the start i believe
hmm, some of those logs i posted are useless
its just all spam for HTTP (502) - Request Failed
The logs confuse me. Does it rotate the logs constantly while running, wiping out logs from earlier in the session?
(Not much to see here, but I recorded so here it is)
Start to finish installing 1.16.b4 and my collection then updating it
It appeared to hang so I paused/resumed. Also seemed to leave a bunch of old mods that should have been removed since I said remove all.
No issues otherwise
So I think the 1.15.2 -> 1.16 transition causes it to break
Deleted all mods and unmanaged all games, then managed FO4 and added my collection
This time i decided to untick the option to install while downloading and its hung after downloading
