Hello, I'm having trouble installing the High Physics FPS Fix mod for Fallout 4. I've tried everything but I'm really stuck.
Please would anyone be kind enough to arrange a 5 minute VC with me so I can share my screen and you can help make sure I'm not making mistakes.
Would be greatly appreciated.

#

Maybe @mellow vortex, you seem experienced with Fallout 4 fallout4

moreso the opposite

#

double check you have all the requirements for high physics fps fix, that you're in borderless mode (iirc that is needed) and I think something needs to be done with vsync as well. There's instructions on the page

#

also double check that everything you have is for your version of fallout 4, as you haven't mentioned if you're on downgraded or next gen

Did you get the version for your game?

I'm on the latest Steam update for Fallout 4

You need that one then

Please would anyone be able to call me and help

mellow vortex
#

And make sure you got the requirments. F4SE and Address Library

#

I can't call right now though.

I have to do manual download because installing through mod manager does seemingly nothing

mellow vortex
#

What manager are you using?

copper vector
#

Do I have to install Vortex?

mellow vortex
#

You don't have a mod manager already?

#

Vortex or MO2.

copper vector
#

I couldn't see a link to install one

mellow vortex
#

You absolutely need one when modding any bethesda game

#

Get whichever suits your fancy. Vortex would be more hands-off and easier to get into. But I'd hesitate building big modlists with it unless you really understand vortex (That goes with anything, but especially vortex)

copper vector

I see, thanks, I'll install it now.

#

Clicking Fix prompts the failure again

You don't have F4SE there

#

And the address library is .163. That's oldgen.

Pardon me for jumping in, but if you are new to adding mods to games, I recommend you check out the midnight ride guide. If you are just throwing in mods blindly without prerequisites or an understanding of why x,y,z to get things working, then you are in for lots of frustration, broken games, uninstall and reinstall. Might wanna put your patience hat on. I had to install and uninstall the game 7 times until I finally got mods working properly and a stable game even with midnight ride! What made it extra difficult for me was i was also new to nexus and pc gaming as a whole. Whats an .ini? 😅😅😅 I needed to learn how to walk before run. https://themidnightride.moddinglinked.com/setup.html

Oh, and if its not to late, or if you do end up starting from scratch again, I implore you to try mo2 instead of vortex. When I started modding, I started with vortex. It looked simple at the surface. But I quickly learned it's simplicity had tremendous drawbacks like no ability to just drag and drop your load order on the fly in the main interface. That, for me personally was unacceptable since I was use to drag and drop on bethesda xbox fallout 4 mod menu. Its thanks to this dude, I found the courage to tackle mo2 and it got me up and running. https://youtu.be/07-JVWDn7LA?si=6YkezM9hweZM2bz7

Oh, I should also add that I am not the expert. Mzo is. But I still wanted to jump in to give feedback as someone who was freshly new only about a year ago but I have learned a lot since then. Sometimes when the long time experts give feedback, they tend to overlook beginner prerequisites. (I'm not thinking of anything in particular mzo 😆 I thank you for all your help)

When using ANY mod. Anyone would tell you its just makes more sense to use a mod manager. Unless you are playing on console, then there is no such thing.
High fps mod requires the Fallout 4 script extender (f4se) the script extender HAS to be launched via a mod manager. So with that, there are already a lot of prerequisites you must do beforehand. But if you follow the midnight ride and read it slowly and do step by step, you'll get it eventually. What I do now is I put a folder on my desktop
I name it "Fallout 4 prerequisites" and inside that, I download and place the crap like vc+++ , direct x, f4se, address plug-ins and all the pre required things that will always be needed prior. That way those things don't get mixed up in other Fallout 4 installation files in case I have to do an uninstall and reinstall because something didn't work.

IT WORKS!

Thanks so much for the help ^^

I pinged MZO and he helped me just fine :)

Many people do, even if they are active/help around. So there's still a chance pings devolve into unneeded arguments. Which nobody wants.
