you are trying to set the staging folder into the gamefolder, which already is wrong, the folder it reverts to is what you should use
staging folder isnt the gamefolder(and isnt supposed to be there either)

ie. the one it puts to the box, the one you are trying to change
that folder is correct
staging folder is a folder where vortex puts the mods you have installed, then you press Deploy on the mods page(the one with the wrench on the left) and vortex then creates links from the mods to the gamefolder(it basically copies the contents of the stagingfolder to the gamefolder)
with the Purge button, you can revert the game to vanilla-state(unmodded)
the one with the dark box is the Deploy button, the one to the right of it is the Purge button

okay but why do i have this notification? the game is on the same drive as vortex and none of the installed mods work, i did everything exactly as in the guide

because you didnt apply the fix, instead you skipped it and applied the second one
if you are following a guide, it either is a poor guide or you are skipping important steps

just point the thing to E:Vortex Mods/howartslegacy or whatever the foldername is

it's because you have the staging folder inside Vortex installation. Move the HogwartsLegacy folder somewhere outside the Vortex Mods folder and select it in vortex
