So I tried a lot of different things to fix the issue of my fallout 4 not going full screen, and everything I tried didn't work, basically after I leave the game for a day it starts going full screen but when I change a few mods around and disable some, the game is windowed and the main menu doens't even show, up, I could really use help figuring this issue out.
#Fallout 4 no full screen

The main display settings are in fallout4prefs.ini. I believe you can copy them to fallout4custom.ini. Put them under [Display], set them the way you want and then make the file read only so programs/mods can't change it. Mine are bBorderless=1, bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1440, iSize W=2560 for full screen at 1440 resolution. The resolution should be set to your desktop resolution as the game does not always rescale properly, which may be your problem.
Did that, didn't work
just gonna redownload it, only takes an hour
That's a strange one to me. I've had trouble when I alt-tabbed and then back but not otherwise.
I am guessing that you downgraded. I did a fresh install from Steam to get a clean installation. Then I used "fallout 4 downgrader" from Nexus with the option to "download depots" so I would have all original files. I never had any problems so if you are reinstalling that would be my suggestion. I suppose it's possible that one of your ini files is damaged, too. I think if you delete/rename all 3 of them and then run the game once from fallout4launcher.exe it will recreate them but I could be wrong.
You're missing archive invalidation
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
In Fallout4Custom.ini
I never knew that would cause that. I thought it just caused mods not to work. You taught this old dog a new trick. 😃
heh the main menu being empty is always archive invalidation either missing or applied in the wrong way
