hello, i was having trouble with skyrim. whenever i try to launch skyrim through vortex, it just says that it failed to run the too. when i click on more, it says "executeable does not exist, please check the configuration for the tool you tried to restart." i have already deleted and reinstalled both vortex and skiyrim twice now, and nothing has worked. is it possible that it is automatically selecting the wrong path? if so, what path does it need?
i am currently trying it without any mods loaded, and even when i have skse downloaded and active, it doesnt work.

- Open Vortex and go to your "Games" tab. Make sure the Skyrim path is correct.
- Also, Make sure Skyrim is NOT installed within Program FIles or Program Files (x86).
This video will help you with install locations for the game:

It is installed within program files x86. Does the video tell me how to move it out of there and where to put them?
Yes.
Ok, thank you.
I ran the library setup tool through virustotal and it told me that it could be malware. Is that normal?
Probably, but it isn't. Don't worry about it. I've personally used it and it works.
Ok…
Yeah virustotal just said that skyhigh, gridinsoft, Bkav Pro, McAfee, Fortinet, and Trellix flagged it as different types of malware, so six of 75 say that its malware.
But it isn't.
It's a Steam tool.
If you don't want to use it, then don't use it.
Optimally you should not have Steam installed in Program Files. It causes countless game-breaking issues when you try to mod your games.
If you're willing to, then yes, that is absolutely your best option.
For example, you can install Steam in** C: -> Games -> Steam**
As long as Steam is not installed in Program Files or any other Windows factory folder then it doesn't matter.
Ok
So in other words, while it doesn’t need to be in C:Games as long as it doesn’t download onto program files, but C:Games is the most optimal?
Also I hope you realize Gopher made that video, and Gopher is a community champion in this Discord server, lol.
I did not realize that he is in the server, but he is the most definitely the goat
💀
So is this fine?
Okay, so I uninstalled and reinstalled steam in the C:\Games folder and uninstalled and reinstalled vortex in the same place, and I am running into the same issue.
I think I might have fixed it!
Should I move the mods to C:\Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Mods?
Or at least set the mod staging folder there?
For the stagung folder just use the suggested path that Vortex suggests, so just click "Suggest", then "Apply".
Also, I hope you don't feel like you wasted your time with relocating your game; that WILL fix a ton of future issues.
Also, I highly recommend the Anniversary Edition for more modding capability (due to modern mods being made for it). AE is definitely not required, but it is also optimal.
Would it be alright to call at some point? I feel like I could do a much better job explaining it verbally than through text.
Oh yeah also the Beatrice blue in this thread is my alt that I use on my pc
Yeah, I will be available in about 7 hours from now if you want to DM me then.
