Hey guys! I’m pretty illiterate at modding. Anyone know what to do when Mo2 doesn’t recognize skyrim?

When i click on the Saves tab in MO2, I can still see my character save file there, saying that i'm missing ESPs and ESLs (skyrim.esm, update.esm, dawnguard.esm, etc.). This leads me to believe I've somehow disconnected my mo2 from the actual game. I'm guessing I need to enable the master files as plugins again, but now sure how. I guess i messed up by downloading something wrong, and now I can’t open the game.

In the settings -> plugins Skyrim Special Edition Support Plugin is listed tho

Yeah I think so 😄

# candid hamlet Yeah I think so 😄

if the game is for sure installed in c:\program files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition and you didn't move the game to another drive or something, then MO2 might have troubles because the game is installed in Program Files (x86), you could try running MO2 as administator to see if it helps or move Steam outside Program Files (x86)

i'll try!

#

I moved the steam folder to the main SSD (C:), but I still get the same screen... Do you think it would work to just uninstall the mods I've downloaded so far, move it back to program files (x86) and just try to run it vanilla again? Tysm for the help by the way!

Yeah

#

but i really wanna spice it up with some small QoL mods. Maybe uninstalling mo2 altogether and just getting these again would work. They worked fine, but i downloaded a few more that ive since deleted

#

after downloading the other ones is when i noticed that my masters dissappeared, so i suspect i just downloaded things in a wrong way or for the wrong game version or something

ill check

#

Is this the right one? I assumed this main folder is the one you meant. Mods folder is empty, the other folders in here are normal for all i know.

#

This is the whole folder btw

candid hamlet
#

🤣

crisp kettle
#

that's the issue

candid hamlet
#

how does that happen

crisp kettle
#

I have no clue

candid hamlet
#

maan

crisp kettle
#

verifying files on steam should fix it

candid hamlet
#

i was just browsing nexus enjoying myself downloading a few things, and boom

crisp kettle
#

unless you deleted it accidentaly somehow so maybe it's still in your recycle bin

candid hamlet
#

well...

crisp kettle
#

I don't know how else would all the game data be gone-

candid hamlet
#

dont ask how

#

right there in the bin lmao

#

so i just recover this and move it into the same folder as the game right?

#

my god man it worked

You're my hero

#

btw since im already asking dumb questions

#

can i ask another one

crisp kettle
#

I guess so

candid hamlet
#

I bought skyrim special edition on steam, but with anniversary edition included as DLC

#

The file name of the game is still SE -- but should I still download mods that are marked for AE?

#

game version is 1.6.1170.0

crisp kettle
candid hamlet
#

Ah sweet, then i'll choose that option when available

crisp kettle
#

mods marked as SE are most likely for 1.5.97 since that's the last version before AE

candid hamlet
#

one day!

#

we were all babies at some point you know

🤣

crisp kettle

#

ill make note of that!

crisp kettle

on that note, enjoy skyriming till it crashes and you return here 😂
