so like, finn tidestrider couldn't ever be prosecuted for polygamy or even infidelity, because my headcanon is that he literally never married ANYONE

RAW the ceremony spell marriage variation does not specify it must be exactly 2 people so you could theoretically have multiple people married to each other at a single ceremony. get your whole party turbo married
i'm also not clear on what creature type chip is at this point but i want to say he's humanoid enough to qualify instead of being reclassified as undead
but in the case of a creature that's very obviously undead it is kind of sad that you cannot marry hot vampires
all of this is to say that albatrio as a ship would not inherently conflict with gillion's beliefs and enforcement of "no multiple marriage" and "no divorce"
it's very very easy to say that the chip/amanda marriage is invalid and annul that
is that even the correct spelling
at which point chip would no longer be cheating if he wanted to date anyone
and then the three of them can all be in love with each other and everything's fine, if the laws of the oversea permit their marriage that's cool too, they just can't contract a legal marriage in the undersea itself
or they could just Not get married and still happily be together
