My JRWI Riptide OC I was talking about earlier in the art channel, Navy Captain Rex Boats! He's a smug pretentious bastard and I love him, all his boats keep sinking. His current ship is called the Law and Oar-der. He is a big fan of puns, obviously

May Day is behind most of it, she was the helmsman and then after she sank 3 ships, he moved her to navigation and she has continued to fuck up. He's just resigned himself to it

Ok. I will be 100% honest, Rex was originally a BITB oc gdhhfjdje his name was Rex Cars and he was Rolan's rival traffic lawyer in Chicago. Me and some friends made a BITB/Riptide swap au with Kian, Rand, and Rolan as pirates and I threw Rex in there as the Navy officer chasing them bc I thought it would be funny and now it's just spiralled into it's own thing

Anyways, all that to say, Kian literally stole the helm of his ship once and stranded them there and May Day saw it and let it happen bc she thought it was funny

So, Rolan is the chosen one in that au, obviously. Unlike Gill though, he's a freshwater triton from a lake and was brought to the Undersea at the age of 4 by the Elders when they found out he was the chosen one. Instead of a coral crown like Gill has, he has a flower crown made out of water lilies that grows from his hair, but he pulls them out nowadays bc he hates the reminder of the prophecy. Instead of being exiled like Gillion was, he actually ran away and the Navy and the Undersea made an alliance to get him back. He, Rand, and Kian are pirates now, constantly on the run from the Navy. They're called the "seaweed pirates" and their ship is "The Stoner"

Rand is also a triton, he's an ocean one though, unlike Rolan. After Rolan was brought to the Undersea, he was freaking out and refused to cooperate, so the elders gave him a companion to help adjust and to get him to be more compliant. It was supposed to be a princess and handmaiden type relationship, the elders didn't expect them to become so close, or for Rand to introduce the chosen one to teenage rebellion and drugs.

Similar to canon BITB, Rolan ran away as soon as he could. He tried to bring Rand with him, but Rand was reluctant to leave so Rolan ran away in the middle of the night and left without saying goodbye. Unfortunately, the elders blamed Rand's influence and Rand lost an eye as punishment. Rand ran away from the Undersea then and there's some angst there bc Rolan blames himself for what happened. Eventually, they reunite tho and run into Kian!

Kian is a changeling and bc of that all of their wanted posters have different faces on them. He's actually the one who introduced the other two to pirating. Kian's parents were pirates too and he was already a criminal on the run from the Navy. He also already had a ship, named after himself and called "The Stoner", and so when all of them met, Kian offered them a place on board. The three of them have been going on adventures together ever since

i finally finished making my persona into a riptide oc. i had a dream from artemis nox's perspective and i have been thinking about where he would be in the world of mana since. artemis is an only child of a broken family since he was born a tiefling to two elven parents. while both of his parents are magically inclined, artemis ended up being way more arcanely gifted than either. magic became his saving grace when both of his parents died in an accident of some kind when he was thirteen. artemis then wandered for a bit before finding his footing on the sea. in the dream he was a member of the grandberry pirates, but i do believe he would just fall into any pirate crew that would take him and his set of skills. im probably going to make a character sheet at some point and maybe flesh out his story a bit more, but this is what i have for now
