Do you guys think 771 is possible
we are limited now by the ramp qm, we can't hop any closer to it or the trick doesn't work. if you compare my last ghost vs alego's, the only possible timesave would be more of that. so it's pretty unlikely that there is enough room for 771
Damn, are you sure it's not a problem with the roll? Like if you modified the inputs from frames 3237-3248 there's still no way to get the trick?
I just remember over the past few days whenever I found improvements I would often jump over the boost panel like you described and changing those inputs gave me the trick
Nvm I'm messing with it right now, this is very unfortunate
knowing that we reached a qm lock is just as valuable as getting a timesave though
have you tried to mess with this ghost yet? i'm not too hopeful that it's useful but you never know
I can try now
i did for 20 mins and couldn't get anything
this would need to not delay the mt at all btw jack to be worth carrying
Can't get anything
yeah it's prob fucked. going around is the only option, but it loses 2 frames. i think it may be possible to squeeze another frame out of l1, with a better startslide, but that would still end up breaking even
How much time would need to be saved to get good ramp qm again?
i thought i had replied to this, sorry lmao
i am not sure but i believe multiple ms
No worries lol
was it verified?
no because i haven't submitted it
bump
why worry about a video later? i think jack should upload this (if he wants it on his channel) he did a great job
@spice gorge
he'll probably upload rSL UR flap, so if he doesn't mind two successive uploads then sure
Sure I can upload I would really like to have this on my channel
I am proud of this, thank you guys 🙂
I tried this one more time and saved a little over 0.1 ms again
how much until 771
~0.6 ms
i tried to improve this for a bit but i wasn't able to. i think this is fine for upload
Does this seem good for the bgm?
does it sync without you needing to be in the menu
yeah sure use whatever you like (although if you ask me every single tas should use some sort of metal bgm)
The drums would be during the fade in and countdown and the actual song starts on go
idea if you're interested
Wait I see the vision
What if you did it on the second half instead of the first half
that's gonna be tricky, it's in like G or something
I can't place a key
I recognized the B -> G -> F# in the first half
Alright don't worry about it then
It might be too much happening if you added that tbh
If it helps, it sounds like the notes are from the D major scale. You can hear a C# under the F# you pointed out, and all the other notes from the scale show up throughout the track. Doesn't really feel like there's a strong tonal center but it could be G, in which case it's G lydian
wait is it detuned ?
wdym
maybe I'll fix it later
Not sure if I'm hearing correctly but some notes sound normal and others sound detuned. Weird
Why are you guys making the music for gv2
If something sounds weird I very crudely spliced together two parts of the same song so that might be why
Can you send the video here unlisted before you publish it
Yeah I can
For funsies
I think it fits the vibe of gv2 pretty well
If anyone has any other bgm suggestions I would consider them but I think mine is pretty good

How does this look
Are you able to stretch the framedump vertically to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio? There's black bars on the top and bottom at the moment
Do I need to change a setting in dolphin? Or do I need to stretch it in a video editor
in the future there is a setting in dolphin (set the aspect ratio to custom stretch 16:9, then set the framedumps to aspect ratio corrected internal resolution), but you can also stretch it in a video editor
@spice gorge if you want me to record it for you, I can
it looks like it's already recorded
oh, thats the finished
I thought it was just a test (since it's unlisted)
mb
It is just a test
Yeah
Does the video quality seem good enough? To me it looks like it could be a little better
probably could be
watching in 1440p removes most of the pixelation though
have a look to see if there's a "bitrate" setting anywhere in your export settings
Is it just me or the quality seems pretty meh (1440p)
Maybe low internal res?
In my opinion the video quality is noticably blurry when viewing at 4K
And I don't think it's a bitrate problem, I think it either wasn't recorded at high enough internal resolution or video editing software is not preserving original quality
Ok I can try to make it better
use paul's upscaled textures
#tas-general message
^ of those i would recommend only using:
- mushrooms
- TIME/LAP
- item frame
@vocal cedar can you record this for me
if you do record it can you not use all those overlays please
I think it would take me a while to get everything right
just use IV in the right corner, input display in the left, and that's it
I agree
I think if you did it exactly how I did it in the test video but in better quality and fixed aspect ratio it would be good
yes
now we get unnecessary custom textures
But do they not look good?
imo only these three actually improve the quality of a recording, all the others people use either look jarring or unnatural
you can maybe make a case for the 3, 2, 1, GO, YOU WIN, YOU LOSE, and FINISH textures, but the custom timer digits, custom character textures, icons, animations, and effects (e.g. wheelie, trick, etc), and the custom track textures definitely look worse compared to simply upscaling natively in dolphin
@spice gorge Would you mind if I use all the textures or just the ones that Kierio’s wants
Just the ones kierio wants
started framedumping now, prepare for this to take hours
Recording finished, here is the config file I used if anyone wants it
@spice gorge I dmed you the dl link
I will edit the video again soon

Okay how is this
at first glance i think it's immediately better than the last recording
It was recorded by a professional this time
what editing software were you using before btw?
Shotcut like mikul suggested to me
yeah ok
i dont think it was a recording problem
i used to use shotcut, back in 2019-20
No I think my problem was I just didn't record in high enough quality lol
even if you recorded in high quality, and high bitrate, and exported in high quality, and high bitrate, the codecs available to you just never resulted in the same kind of hq output as other editing softwares or ffmpeg (what the encoder script uses)
I see
it would be a basically perfect recording, but the whole thing would just look "off"
which is what the comments about it looking blurry were
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaFW7Qzw5wQ this was edited with shotcut, and exported at 1440p (enough for youtube to give it the good codec) - it looks pretty similar to what your first recording was
This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). Played on SwareJonge's Dolphin 5.0 LUA Core v3.1415926535, v3.2.1 and v3.3. Tools used: slow-down, savestates, frame advance, TAS input, TAS code, RAM watch (info display), Aldelaro5's DolphinMemoryEngine, LUA scripts, text files, and LuigiM's TAS toolkit.
Lap 1 TAS BKS cuts:
-0.028 from previous lap 1 by...
Yeah that does look similar to my first one
you started on the menu
Yeah, that's showing what times the player and ghost are
Pretty standard for any bkt with comparison
bear in mind that you are allowed to do this, but you will lose karma like in Fallout
Yeah I was originally going to not include the ghost comparison and then when tactical recorded for me I thought the ghost comparison looked good so I left the menu in the video
The ghost comparison is nice
I use shotcut too, the reason most recordings look off with it is because there is a hidden setting in the advanced exportation menu that sets the quality% of the final export (100% being lossless and 0% being completely unwatchable). By default this setting is set to 55%, which would make a 4k video look 1080p. To fix this, I change the setting to any value between 95% and 100%, this results in way better quality footage.
When it comes to that rDS run, I don’t know if you changed the setting or not. If you did though, I would have more questions to answer
It’s been 5 years so I couldn’t tell you
Figured
That’s good to know though
It’s probably what caused it
Funnily enough I’m glad I didn’t know that back then because I never would have migrated off shotcut otherwise
But just so you know, all my recordings are shotcut recordings, so reference those next time you end up blaming shotcut for something
Yeah that’s really good news
