- Use a proper start slide
- Release mts on time and quickhop if you need to
- Take turns tighter (just barely miss the offroad or wall)
Try to copy wr lines for now
okay thanks
if you're looking for something you're doing wrong, you're holding miniturbos for too long and holding left for a lot of frames before releasing your MTs
Okay thanks
this becomes apparent on the third turn, where you can't take the turn on the railing
but on the plus side it looks like you're familiar with how the WR takes the shroomcut, which I like, and you're also not turning in your wheelie, so I'd say you're already doing better than most beginners
if you're looking for some goals, try to take the shroomspot tight enough so as not to cross the line in the middle
why did you make a new channel titled "MKWii TAS" just to upload this video
It's a MKWii TAS video

Ok so @swift turtle you basically need to change your thought process about how you TAS
Take this turn for example
When making this run, you need to constantly be thinking, "have I taken this turn as best/tight as possible?"
You can clearly see that the vehicle could go a lot tighter there without hitting the off-road
You need to always, always be thinking of what the optimal path is. Idk what you were thinking when making that run, but you shouldn't just do a wide turn and then go "good enough" when there's clearly more improvement possible
In addition to this, it's imperative that you TAS on the specific version of Dolphin we have in #resources , which comes with info display on the side (such as speedometer, miniturbo charge values), to help you
You also need to be utilising Dolphin slowdown and savestates as much as possible
And if you are unfamiliar with TAS Code, I would suggest not making another run until you use it - because it really is that helpful
I am really curious to hear from your perspective why you uploaded the run with a turn that wide. It'll help me better understand the thought process behind new TASers, so I'd appreciate that @swift turtle
Is it that you didn't notice it was wide until someone pointed it out to you? Or perhaps you thought that any tighter line would only save like 1 millisecond (negligible time)?
speaking from experience of what being a new TASer was like (from many years ago) and having worked with new TASers before, it was likely that he just didn't notice the turn was wide at the time
Yeah, that's true I just didn't notice it was that wide
most important habit: redo each turn/section several times. do not stop the first time it looks good enough.
i learned the game by tasing this track, even the very first time i spent an hour on each turn. there are so many things that in your control to save time. maybe hopping earlier/later is better, maybe you can take a tighter line and still avoid offroad, maybe changing the line out of your previous turn helps the next... it's very important to just keep trying stuff, if something saves time try to think of why and you'll get the hang of it over time
definitely use start slides (it's free timesave you paste over) and definitely always release mts early (you should see the blue spark for one frame only)
Okay thanks for the help
