so contrast is how much each color stands out from each other, while blending is how much they'll merge and look like a new color altogether. if you want to create a fade from one color to another you kinda want to start with high contrast/low blend to understand how the color channels work in your specific hairstyle, then tune the extent of each color and lastly adjust blend/contrast to create the fade effect

yeah so my confusion is really trying to get a grasp of when the junction is a mix of the colors or if it's just a lower contrast. When I play with the sliders it seems like they both have similar functions at certain ranges of the slider.

The blending also has a weird thing where it starts "inverting" the two colors at some point and it's a bit confusing but yeah

it can be a bit jank because the output is a result of multiple inputs, so to speak. I think the easiest way to figure it out is to just crank up/down Length 1 and 2 so you understand what parts of the hair get colored on each slider, then once you know that it'll be easier to isolate the effect of the contrast/blend sliders.
