It becomes 'stranded' which means you cannot interact with islands/ships and cannot do sailing events. Your ship goes faster and you'll only be able to go to a port and repair the ship

yeah seals mainly just come from dispatch and cashing in the special items you receive from dispatchh for 12x seals. i think i recall a few rewards in the new player challenge that offered some seals like the stronghold honing research though
