It's not too difficult, if you watch a video on the mechanics it may seem more difficult but in reality you won't see half the mechanics cause it will die quickly.

Go to your char profile and you should see 2 black spots with white cross on them underneath your weapon. That’s where you can add in engravings from books.

You can equip two of the same engraving if you like for higher levels on the engraving. If you only used green book for an engraving you need to equip it on both slots for it to take effect. (+3 and +3 to get +6 since you need 5 nodes for lv 1 effect)

General consensus is to do Argos armor and reroll hm weapon, but if you end up completing Valtan and start replacing your set you will want Argos weapon if you want to maintain set bonus a bit longer
