You got it all wrong.... let me explain in detail:
You have 7 chars at t2 (to put an example), you can then run ALL of the abyss dungeons on 6 characters and get gold from ALL of them (the ones that you can get gold from, remember some lower levels you can't get gold anymore because your ilvl may be too high), the 7th characters can not get any gold whatsoever because you have a limit of getting gold for 6 characters, but the other 6 chars you can rull ALL abyss and get gold from ALL of them

You have to use RNG to get the tripods on a piece of the loot from the chaos dungeons, then you choose 1 tripod to replace from your piece of gear and the loot you got. The loot you got will be destroyed on the transfer attempt.

It's basically that you're missing a pre-req for those quests. You're best off googling it, and following the quest line back to wherever it starts.
