You need the legendary gear set to progress your ilvl. Also, you’ll get the honing materials, gear crafting stuff, and accessories. No reason not to buy it unless you’re like 1490 with everything already.

or it'll raise its arms and roar and then start spinning

well if you look for a Aeon Ring with 80 quality, spec and +2broken bone +2demonic impulse for example, it'll only compare this exact item. what you want to do is open the search settings, remove the broken bone cause it's worth nothing, lower quality to 60 or 70 maybe, remove the name(so it can show the chaos rings and other rings), add 2 to demonic impulse so it only shows the +2 one, then search again, and you'll get much more open results
