Personally I do it more for the excitement that it being of big value. Personally I would say if you got spare energy it is fine. But crafting them for profitting of selling off the mats not so much

1g perhaps, but if the book is worth like 20-40g it's likely used by some classes, and having to bid a minimum of 50g in a premade group only to redistribute the gold afterwards so that the friend in your group can get the book for free seems like a flaw to me

On the same website they show which item drops what, if you need life shards there are some that drop lifeshard bags, also check your welcome thing on the top right side for rewards, there are some life shard bags for completing certain things.

You also get minor amounts of lifeshards from doing guardians for the first time through gear dismanteling, can get them through the sales shop for blue crystals
