It's pretty good, you essentially get cheaper fees on traveling between areas, triports are free to teleport to, you get 2 bifrosts than you can manually set to wherever in the game you want to teleport to, you can use your pet to repair your armor almost everywhere, access the market from everywhere as well as storage and a few other perks such as a bonus rapport song and emote, ect

Yeah i played ranged in most mmos in the past so melee is quite new for me. Might as well switch my skill build too.

the issue is, ranged classes arent the "easiest" already. their positioning really matters and sometimes being far away from a boss, makes it harder to see their tells especially if you're trying to keep a good distance

Gunslinger/Deadeye are "difficult" cause you have to cycle between their 3 weapons for the specific situations. Mages have charge up times that could get you killed pretty easily

Ultimately you want higher quality in a lot of your gear but if you can't get it for your equipment you don't need to worry about it too much

i would recommend doing all the quests that you can, including event, to get them, first, unless you really need it, now, which shouldn't be the case until you're T3
