If you want to get practically 4 times the loot, you run the colour map with 3 other people that have the same tier of map. (4 purple, 4 orange, 4 blue). I would say, to farm mats efficiently, you want to focus on getting your main at least to t2 first. Then unlock the tier 1 honing success research and then once you have a good daily routine, then you can farm mats efficiently and faster.

The rift exchange I last saw you can exchange for rare/epic/legendary secret maps so not sure but maybe if those mats at the very least from the maps are worth to you, also the bid off at the end gives gold from people that bid and secret map from completing it gives mats so good assume yes
