Generally, it's always best to have one main and progress that one main. If your main reaches T2 you can research improved honing % in T1 for your alt so it will progress faster. This continues up to T3. But in T3, you are so unbelivably short on mats that splitting mats between 2 toons instead of going with just one will significantly hamper your progress.
