Everytime you successfully get a +1 on an engraving, your chance will go down by 10%.
If you fail, it will go up by 10%.
You want to use high chances on good engraving effects, because you want it to succeed.

Each tier of book will require you to fulfill that tier of book (for the specific engraving) before moving on.
20x green books, then 20x blue, etc.

you don't have to since the purple ones are higher quality and give you better chances of getting the perk/engraving you want so just do the faceting on the purples and equip the one you want the most, you could either get rid of the blue ones by selling them or keep them is all up to you the benefits of keeping them are not that much
