idk how it fully works but my understanding is when you boost a character you get put into a SIGNIFICANTLY reduced questline that basically goes over the story and stuff but like 90% shorter. so it could be a reflection of that and as you do it will be jumping levels till you get to 50.

You can make an alt character, skip prologue and do the cathedral quest to get another horse. If you don't like the character, you can delete it afterwards as the mount is account bound.

I think its because there's no singular source, there's multiple ore nodes in said zone therefore it can't zoom focus on any specific one within the region, if you are trying to find the region though on the map, press M, right click until you reach world view then use the search top right and it'll auto complete for you!

basically at some point at lvl 50 your main gets time locked by dailies and such.
The idea of using an alt is to do dailies and weeklies multiple times because each character has its own daily/weekly tasks and rewards and some rewards from those are tradeable consumable used to upgrade gear. You want to funnel these consumables to your main to level its gear faster
