Out of curiosity, at endgame, is playing a DPS paladin possible at all? If so, how much worse is it percentage wise in damage potential vs actual dps? etc 10%, 20% less dmg. I ask because as an outsider looking in (I watched someone play Paladin in the beta), I'm aware that it ends up at a support class, but does the game let you know that is how it's meant to be played before endgame? It's kind of weird to me that it has so many damage abilities early on. I guess those are for solo levelling. I don't actually plan on playing Paladin, and even then I'll play as supp, I'm just curious.

It's possible but you'll never deal as good dmg as a dps. If you got a static that is cool with that why not. But pugging is just griefing and you'll most likely be declined in to every group.

I guess the thing that is odd to me is that you reach endgame dealing damage, and then you have to suddenly switch your playstyle. (I'm assuming, I don't actually play the game yet).

Not really. It's the same as any other mmo pretty much where you level a support with dps skills then swap once you reach max level and start doing group content

It's not like you swap in this game either. You just run 2 builds always anyway and just swap between when you are solo and in group

Its somewhat simple.

Gearing in this game works by getting a set of gear at endgame (first one will be from Chaos Dungeons at Blue rarity) and you upgrade this gear with materials you acquire through playing the content in the game. Each enhancement level (+1, +2, +3, etc) upgrade will increase the ilvl of each individual piece of gear.
When you move on to a new set of gear (the next one in this example being from Abyssal Dungeons at Purple rarity) you will be able to recycle or "transfer" the enhancement level from that Blue set to the Purple set so you do not lose any progress. This is only the case for gear that is from the same "Tier" of content (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
When you are recycling a lower Tier piece of gear into a higher Tier piece of gear (for instance T1 into T2) the enhancement level is not exact, it will only make that T2 gear a +1 enhancement level.

no all founder stuff is bound to account but there is value in having multiple pets. you can roll them for passive secondary stats and if you have 3 pets you can always swap to the one that has the ideal stats for the class you are currently playing without having to reroll it all the time

I would probably avoid deadeye and gunslinger, they have multiple stances.

If you want a giga chad class and dont care about mobility look at Gunlancer it's basically a super tanky DPS and brings a lot of unique stuff and has selfshields and what not. Really hard to die on it and you still do stupid DPS. Very few ppl play this class because of the bad dodge/mobility it has but you dont really need to dodge if you are so tanky.

Or look at Sorc she has no positional requirements as ranged cast and you basically wave your dick around until you fill up your class gauge then you buff up and burst like crazy for a short duration.

Wardancer has one of the best buffs in the game, but the duration is not even close to cooldown so timing that is key. She is a lot more constant in dps than soulfist, and her dps is good

Soulfist on the other hand has a skill that is a burst, long casting time and you will do that from time to time. The dmg of that skill is amazing to the point of it being the strongest dps skill, but if you miss your dps will be terrible. Rng plays a role here too, not criting with the bomb will make you lose dps too.

All classes are viable, and eventually will receive either buffs or nerfs.
