Astrogem options kind of suck. You get very very few of them & then you still have to roll them & hope they turn out good.
Elysian Tickets are kind of okay if youre a person pushing rank in Crucible. You can also improve gear, which improved your orb, which gives CP which is kind of nice.
Special Honing is the best by far though. If you can hit a few free taps you can save a ton of gold & mats

i think there's an argument to using roster bound gold to get your GK to 1700 but keep your alts "free" as long as possible while hoarding materials
I also think there's an argument to trying to push them to 1680 relatively quickly because it's cheaper
