You can use the free event power pass to skip all story and get to the start of endgame. Or you can do the whole story. Almost all of the grind was removed from the story, Tier 1 & 2 dont exist anymore and only the very tail end of tier 3 gear exists. You get free sets of gear as you finish story continent

I think the main argument to powerpassing something is to use it to help leverage materials later on

also to unlock stronghold buffs for t3 and to a lesser extent t4
