You can do either. If youre jumping straight into it, your build might not be great just yet. Or if you picked a support class (bard, paladin, artist, valk) you'll want a DPS build.

If you happened to play the story, take that as your baby steps, but after the baby starts walking, you are forced into a F1 race

The difficulty spike from story to real content is dramatic
