Idk what you mean by restricted. But you can play a single char easily enough until ~1700 then the grind gets a little slower as things to improve yourself get more expensive

- Use Tour rewards (skill points & runes) to improve on your class build
- Collect & Read Engraving books (20 Yellow Legendary books x5 engravings)
Engraving books can be obtained various ways through many various NPC exchanges, event shops & event handouts
The Arkesia Tour will have you complete a number of simple quests and reward you with a large amount of horizontal & collectable completion including more skill points & addition skill runes to help your build.
If a Mokoko Express is ongoing, activate it from an icon beside your minimap. It will provide free items to help with the process above as well as provide things like honing support to make progression easer. There is only 1 Mokoko Express per region so choose your character carefully!

you can use the pass after you create the character no problem if you want to see how a class plays first (do note the gameplay between new and endgame is VERY different, there is a video showcasing 98% of the classes the game has if you wanna watch that to have an idea of how they play), and yes create and skip is yellow option
