the vast, vast majority of the value in those old chests is in the shards. if you don't need the shards they're a pretty lousy value, and that whole chart is going to get turned upsidedown with the honing changes soon and we're not sure what its going to look like in the end

the green is just showing that, if you were desperate for every honing mat, the difference in the price for that chest for the amount you get vs buying them on the market is an incredibly good deal

the red next to that shows that if you need everything except for shards, you're way overpaying

i just came back not too long ago and it looked like i got lots of mats from logins etc. the only moment i felt gated was when going from 1490 to 1520 because of raid drops and rn i am gated at 1580 beacause of the same reason, orehas were a small issue too but it seems all of that is getting improved in like 2-3 weeks. all in all it's fine

the turn off for me was having to gear up again and again what felt like way to frequently and it was getting to be utter bs to get new gear

you get more mats now, and lower level mat requirements are much lower. i dont know exactly what your sticking point was before, but you should find it a lot easier. all of T3 raids are soloable now, which is i imagine all you've ever known, and one of the T4 raids, with the next coming soon. the story goes quite a bit farther than it did at launch, so there's plenty to get through. whether it's achieveable at a "reasonable pace" depends on your definition, so here's hoping you like the changes and the upcoming event 😄

for right now you'll still get time-gated for gear up to 1580

with the december event there won't be any gear crafting gate, you'll be gated on materials/gold
