Ilvl gain is what the increase on a specific piece is divided by 6 (cuz 6 total gear pieces and ilvl is average of all 6).

So if you're 1676.66 and need 3.33 ilvl to hit 1680 you need 3.33*6 = 20 ilvl across all gear pieces.
For example you could even upgrade 1 piece by 20 ilvls to get that.
