the event changes the odds by doing a much faster pity, but the event also provides a lot of 15-18 books when you reach certain ilvs from the boxes, so doing AH lets you get those books and take care of an even cheaper honing session

it may be more expensive at first due to AH not having any real help, but it should be worth in the end

yea crafting your anciant gear(Agir) is the next step to getting a big damage boost for your character once you reach 1660. after you done with that you get your next damage boost from Karma(1670 brel). after that its anciant accessories at 1680 then after that its from honing.
focus on getting your agir anciant pieces first

the dmg boost from honing is very small compare to the others
