To give an actual proper answer if no one did already, first of all there is a pinned progression guide for armors, tldr your current Brel ancient is tapped to 19 then you beat Akkan and craft his armors, then you hone transfer your 19 to the new Akkan 0 and continue honing the new Akkan (+12), at 1580 you unlock the ability to do south kurzan and then paradise to have some fun, but check the guide pinned here anyway for future stuff, anything else feel free to ask

Express accessories are character bound.
From the gatekeeper pov, what's important to me is general build. If it's fine, it doesn't matter whether you have purple-none or gold-gold relic accs. If it's bad, you're not accepted either way. You can get a free pass for stuff like cracked gems or frontier title, but chances are a newbie won't have that.
Accessories cost pheons, and pheons, at some point, can become a huge issue, costing a crapload of gold.
