Yes you can progress, but besides lv50 being a mostly useless metric coz item level is the main one, you will hit hard time walls, a powerpass can save days or even a couple months of those walls, BUT we do get free powerpasses from time to time
If you hate waiting for progression then you can come back later when they give one for free, god knows when tho, we will probably know next week
