You don't have the correct type of gold. To craft tradeable items (including Oreha), you need to pay the crafting cost with Unbound gold. The alternative way to craft Orehas with Bound gold is to unlock the farm at Stronghold level 10 and craft bound Orehas with the farm materials.

the problem with the fusion is that the current t3 fusions cost about the same as T4 fusions. but T3 advance honing requires more fusions then normal t4 fusions

this is the cost for +10 everything. not counting fusion cost with 1620 T3 gear. this will put you at 1650 when you transfer (1630+20)

this is T4 1640 -> 1650 with all t4 hone

t4 oreha is 75gold. T3 oreha is 72 gold. you need 6700 t3 oreha. you only need 620 t4 oreha

the mat cost for the T4 mats would be like an extra 200-300k which i guess would put you at ~500K vs the 800k T3 +10 advance hone would cost with bound mats

*the gold portion in the screenshot is the total tap cost. it didnt take material cost into account.(since you already have the mats it would just be the base 330k with no extra mats cost, except the 485k for the orehas)

I watched a video on what to do after transferring out where the guy said the most efficient way to hit 1660 was to do echidna hard (paying for bus) and then advance honing as many gear pieces as you can to avoid using t4 mats. Is this possible and/or worth doing for me?

New players aren't expected to exhaust the express event quickly. No 'event' has been like that except maybe the Ignite server, which is an exception and was extremely generous. If the 'new player' plays consistently - doing raids and life-skilling, hitting 1620 is not a problem at all.
