You don't "need" alts, they are there if you want to play them but ultimately even if you're on limited time to be able to play you can just push the one Main, yes it takes longer but alts are also an investment and that investment increases the higher in ilvl they go. If you want to at least do something yeah, you can just Lopang run them.

The honing system is better and worse in a way compared to bdo. Bdo may be more punishing, but it’s one and done since you can transfer gear to other alts.
Lost ark makes you gear and hone each alt separately.

Honing has always had a stop point depending on when in the game we were. 1490 was literally the absolutely end point way back when because we had nothing that went higher.

1615 was one such point, then it moved up, and it will likely continue to move up its just they aren't making huge ilvl leaps for reqs for upcoming content at the moment

Looks like you don't get another set of gear when you do Yorn chaos dugeon. In the past you got 'tier 1' gear then tier 2, but tier 1 has been removed. So you can technically hone the tier 2 gear all the way up to 1100 (which may be +20 everything not sure), but you will still have to the story in order. Shushire > Rohendel > Yorn > Feiton > Punika & beyond.
