Maybe its not the place to ask, but does anybody do the co-op sailing events anymore? I used to play when the game just came out in NA, took a break and just came back now. And the co-op sailing events are completely dead. Is there just a better way of getting pirate coins and so nobody touches the co-op event?

Well first of all they don't give many to begin with, if anything it's more for the Secret Map, and also the rate of expenditure of pirate coins isn't consistently high
Most pirate coins are just handed out in event shop/login rewards
Also, the Guild Request to collect Gienah / Procyon coins is popular, but to complete it you can simply grab a Sailing Event Shop box and open it to instantly complete the quest. Leaving little incentive to do them left.

Unfortunately it does make getting the Secret Map very difficult (From the Gienah/Procyon chest), so most people skip those maps. The drop rate is super low anyways.
