quality on armor give % max HP, and quality on weapon gives % dmg

So the maxroll guide on gear progression is a bit outdated but the basic principles are the same. That should give you an idea. The problem is that they’ve merged the earlier tiers into a single tier and I’m confused as fuck about what they’ve actually done with item level breakpoints. Regardless, progression in this game is tied directly to: completing story (to unlock new areas) and your item level (to unlock content that is gated by item level). Item level also increases your character strength. Item level is increased through honing which uses materials, which you get from doing daily and weekly content. As long as you are honing the right tier item for your progression, it doesn’t matter much more than that as per your goal to just increase item level (there are certain breakpoints to stop honing later on but you’ve not got there yet)

The best way to think about it is that your character level is more or less irrelevant in this game. All that matters is item level which is essentially a gear score. You increase this by using materials which you either obtain through playing regularly but cannot (really) farm endlessly, or you buy with gold (which leads to the p2w aspect of the game)

You just need and use 1 single armor piece forever (of course hone transferring each new tier/soft reset)

You hone that only, you don't hone multiple chests to make 1 better chest
