FAQ on Classes

What class do I make?

The honest and simple answer is to make whatever class you think you will enjoy playing. There are plenty of gameplay videos on every class. I encourage you to watch some, and test out some basic movement and skills in Trixion (the place where you spawn into and pick a class). Bard, Artist and Paladin are the support classes. All the other classes are DPS classes.

I have heard class “X” does low damage

Like all games, balance in Lost Ark is not perfect and there are classes that perform better than others given identical setups. That being said, every class is capable of clearing all content easily. There are also so much progression available to a character that you will never be in a situation where someone on a different class has an identical setup to yours. Finally, player skill is a huge factor in determining how much damage you actually do in any given raid. If you must meta chase, just be aware that balance patches happen frequently.

I have heard class “Y” gets gatekept

All classes inc. supports get gatekept. People can gatekeep based on anything. Picking a specific class will not generally help you (the exception being playing a support class because there is a shortage). The best thing you can do is to pick a class you enjoy, and build it properly, and gear it well. There are also various LFG channels and Discords which can help you find people to play with outside of the in-game party finder.

Why do people recommend playing a support?

Supports require relatively low investment to be in a state that is “endgame ready”. There is also generally a support shortage. Supports are also, arguably, easier to play to a passable level compared to a DPS class because you are naturally tankier and you do not have to worry about trying to DPS a boss.
