If so, keep doing main story until you finish south Vern. So finish story express and get back with us here.
If not, I’d highly suggest making a new character and using the story express on it. Painful to do lvl 1-50 again, but will greatly speed your progression.

Spec builds generally need spec for meter generation and have the highest dmg scaling. More spec means more dmg. Therefore, many builds have spec breakpoints you need to hit which requires very high quality on accessories.
Cheeping out on swift or whatever builds isn’t nearly as noticeable as having low spec on something like an igniter or punisher slayer for example.

Tbh, getting 1600+ spec is very easy at 1490+.
Managed to build a 5x3 punisher slayer at 1720 spec for around 50k gold excluding books.
