what you can do however is life skill right now, gather resources as you keep playing (the life skill bar regens to full every 2~ days) and then you can go ham on selling things (or saving for yourself) when you reach the level required to sell those

That isn't honing, that is Gear transfer. Two different things. For you to go beyond 1370 you need to now get Legendary gear, either Chosen set or one of the sets from Argos Abyss Raid.

you dont proceed like that, you are already at +15, any hone transfer you do to purple gear are 100000% useless, meaningless, you're wasting resources, your next course of action is getting legendary gear

Once you hit 1370 you will be crafting legendary gear to hone further, you get them from 2 places, Abyss dungeon HARD mode and Argos raid.
For "Optimal" crafting, you will be getting 4 abyss dungeon pieces and 2 argos, one of the abyss pieces will be the weapon.
Abyss nets you a total of 48 materials to craft (including first time completon on both Aira's Oculus and Oreha Preveza) AND buying both chests at the end of each, you will be using 45 to craft the weapon and whatever 3 armor pieces. Trade the other 3 abyss mats for 6 leapstones.
Then you will do Argos raid, you only need gate 1 and buying the chest from it to craft your other 2 pieces (including first time chest), it gives you 26 Argos blood in total, and you need 24 for the 2 pieces, the rest of the argos blood (you should be getting 40 total if you ran the 3 gates, so 40-24=16) will be traded since they give you 3 great honor leapstones. 2 Argos set is more than enough, never craft 5 set coz literally no one uses that set anymore, it's useless if you dont have another person with the opposite set to combo with in your party.

First off because Story Express rewards are an absolutely a massive springboard for new players for their roster as a whole due to card packs, rapport chests, sailing coins, stronghold currencies, etc. Doing both Story Express and Hyper Express means you get rewards from both as a new player which makes it even more worth it.

Card packs and other roster level things are not useless to a new player, nor is the entire process of Story Express accelerating you through early content while also providing the rewards it does.

Because Card Sets can provide very helpful bonuses to your class. For instance the early best in slow Card Sets for a DPS class are Lostwind Cliff which, when awakened high enough, gives 7% additional crit chance which can be very helpful to achieve high enough crit for certain earlier builds.

Then the best in slot Card Set, Light of Salvation, changes all of your damage types to Holy which will deal increased damage in certain Legion Raids, but when you awaken the set high enough you can increase that Holy damage which is just an overall damage bump.

personal experience: My ayaya was 4x3 with hyper engraves and there was another bard at much higher ilv asking for a party at brel, they took me instead, bard was running 3 lv5 gems and one wasnt even the correct skill, literally trolling if you ask me, and the 5th engrave was a useless one
