Tierlists are subjective first and foremost. Most classes can top DPS, though certain ones have an easier time doing so.
I highly recommend you find a class that feels fun to you, because you might invest heavily in an S tier class and find you hate it once you get to end game.

Express event is straight forward, get a character to 1340 and select it with the express event.

TL;DR - A lot.

(this section is talking about Taijutsu, but I think it's still relevant)

If you have fully Entropy set + Ambush Master, the damage difference is huge

i think effectivly youll be back attacking 60% of the time

I want to say you probably lose over 50% if your damage not hitting the back. You can see this yourself on your biggest crits whether they land front or back. The problem with burst DPS like shock specifically is that your damage is disproportionately weighted on certain skills like death rattle so if you lose the BA on those your damage dips significantly

Take surge - I crit for maybe 120M on back surge, but drops to maybe just under 50 if I don’t land the back attack

It then takes me ~10 seconds to build up another surge
