these are both great resources that will help you focus on skill points

None give skill points directly either. But most people focus on nia (omnium star), calvasus, sacha, nineveh, Beatrice (giants heart) - as those collectibles give skill points

For cards - I would just save selection packs now until you know what you are doing. Open the random ones and see what you get. Cards are a long term thing. In the short term just get a set that gives hp (field boss)

Keep in mind that if you open the random card packs you get you will quickly fill up your slots and have to buy more with blue crystals. Its possible to just horde them all for later.

Up to you. Overall side quests will add quite a bit of play time, but most of them are on the way to what you were doing anyway. If you want to speedrun there are some guides for you
