There’s some logic behind this. You have to have them in your inventory and not equipped for them to be used in auto combine to make the higher ones

game's not all about honing, you still want good accesories, books (engravings in general), honing costs gold as well per tap, alts may need gold to hone or to get engraves or to get mats to get to a certain treshhold

Here's the way I like to calculate things.
The pack is £24
The mount, pet and outfit are bound so they aren't tradeable.
The blue crystals average say 2.5k per 85
So lets say crystals 10k gold = £8 Royal crystals
60 days aura = 840 blue crystals = 25k gold = Around £25

I recommend you enjoy the story of that game and take your time honestly, it's not like lost ark, there is no incentive of fear of missing out. Once you reach the end there are things you can do but once you reach my point it's a matter of coming back for new content, taking a break playing something else and then coming back for more new content.

legendary gear can get up to 20, which will net you 1490, but at 1445 (+17) you unlock relics, dont worry if you over hone legendary, its 1:1 on hone transfering legendary>relic

The biggest issue with this game is they do fomo stuff on purpose. There are events you don't have access to right now for example because your gear score is too low (in short you're missing out on events because you haven't rushed to end game). There iss a hot springs event you can participate in right now but in past events you were gear scored locked behind acquiring event items.
Problems aside, if you're somebody with all the free time in the world, this could be the best game ever for you.

Once you hit 1370 you will be crafting legendary gear to hone further, you get them from 2 places, Abyss dungeon HARD mode and Argos raid.
For "Optimal" crafting, you will be getting 4 abyss dungeon pieces and 2 argos, one of the abyss pieces will be the weapon.
Abyss nets you a total of 48 materials to craft (including first time completon on both Aira's Oculus and Oreha Preveza) AND buying both chests at the end of each, you will be using 45 to craft the weapon and whatever 3 armor pieces. Dismantle the other 3 abyss mats for 3 leapstones.
Then you will do Argos raid, you only need gate 1 and buying the chest from it to craft your other 2 pieces (including first time chest), it gives you 26 Argos blood in total, and you need 24 for the 2 pieces, the rest of the argos blood (you should be getting 40 total if you ran the 3 gates, so 40-24=16) will be dismantled since they give you 2-3 great honor leapstones. 2 Argos set is more than enough, never craft 5 set coz literally no one uses that set anymore, it's useless if you dont have another persont with the opposite set to combo with in your party.

Deathblade is very expensive to build due to it being popular and a spec class. If you like it, build it... after all, I have a blade alt. Just know it's one of the most expensive classes in the game to build.

People seemed to only answer about surge and u didn't mention what you want to play so I'll give my 2 cents as someone who main DB and plays both. Surge can be expensive to play, especially if you build high qual and I don't see a point in playing burst personally if u don't invest in it properly but that's me. That being said, u can and should imo run cursed and that makes it somewhat okay but still expensive(unlike db striker for exmaple where u KBW instead of cursed and it makes prices spike quite a bit). RE is quite cheap on the other hand because u build super charge and that make the build quite cheap + books are way cheaper than they used to(I bought mine at like 8k ea and it's like 2k now). I think surge is easier than RE and pretty fun but I think RE is way more engaging and quite more fun personally. So imo u can go RE and have a pretty fun time without spending a whole lot.
