bard - support class, pick if you're party-oriented but it won't satisfy you if you're hungry for dps
arcana - one build is basically a mage assassin, relying on burst windows and often going into melee range, and the other is spammy using cards to amplify your damage
summoner - can't speak too much on this one as I don't play it

summoner is quite close to sorceress, she's also high range but as the name implies she summons pets and stuff to do damage, they attack on their own so there's no micro control

this game is very alt-centric and the game gives you two free level 50 characters once you finish the first leg of the story, so don't worry - you're not really "locking" yourself into anything

in due course you'll be able to try them all and decide which you like best

bard is an easy yes/no based on whether you like supporting

honestly they're all great, mages have a good reputation and they're well balanced, with bard you'll always be accepted in raids, but doing main story line is hard because she has low damage
sorceress is a giga dps machine, arcanist is a mobile mage but also quite hard to play, summoner is stable dps and safe gameplay
whatever you go with you'll be really fine, don't worry about it. give every class a try in class testing and see which one you like more

First start with doing Chaos Dungeons; you can do these endlessly but you can only collect the full rewards from them twice per day. Any time after that you are rewarded a currency for a specific vendor. This isn't really advised for most people to do.

After that there are Guardian Raids which are a daily activity and Una's Tasks which are daily activities which contribute to an overall weekly reward.

Tldr for engravings (books specifically) would be you can buy them on the Market for gold, but there are also quest sources that you've bypassed due to you using a power pass so you can't get access to those on your main character now (you can on an alt, though). Otherwise you can pick them up from daily login after a certain number of days of logging in or an event vendor or some other reward being given out in an event.

For Cards that is a very RNG system that is not typically advised to "chase after" as there are only a few viable endgame card sets. Essentially you'll just be accumulating them over time. Normally the only advice given is if you get a Legendary Card Selection pack you save it for much, much later down the road and an early set to shoot for would be Lostwind Cliff, but again don't worry about breaking your back over chasing after them.

Well at 1370 your most current Guardian would be Night Fox Yoho and without engravings you'd essentially be useless...and I would not recommend touching Abyssal Dungeons and absolutely not Abyss Raids (Argos) without engravings or anything else.

It might be wise to take @spark imp 's advice and start an alt character.

Well what you can do to bypass the leveling story, since you have a 1370 character, you can Knowledge Transfer an alt up to North Vern which will give it level 50 and 302 ilvl gear. Your Stronghold needs to be level 5 and have to complete a small little quest at your Stronghold but its 600 gold and will put the character at the aforementioned point. I'm pretty sure KT does not complete any of the leveling side quests so you can go back and do them on that alt.

@steep path you should be able to complete abyssal dungeons on hard with random team mates, they can feel difficult, since you basically skipped the learning curve by jumping into endgame, but all those engravings and stuff would give you mainly damage and not more survivability and usually the team dps should be high enough anyway, the alternative would be to take a carry - here on EU-Central people usually carry those for free if one agrees to forego bidding on cards - however that doesn't lead to you learning to play well, its just easy free gold

They are fairly even, but deathblow can utilize burst buffs like bard's serenade of courage better

The caveat is that esoteric striker has to have high uptime on the boss while deathblow plays to look for damage windows instead.

When you have overgeared the raids, burst is generally more favoured to phase the boss. But in prog or on ilvl, they more or less have similar outputs

I personally park a lot of chars at 1472.5 (or just something between 1460 and 1470 if I'm too stingy to hone) because at that point you can still get gold from argos, less but way easier (as soon as you hit 1475 you won't get gold from argos anymore, and can't take the chests, you only get the basic drops like with oreha) if you go for 1475 then there isn't too much reason to stay there tbh, but don't need to rush to 1490 if you can't really afford it
