having everyone enter tentacles and immediately being able to damage them can save you 5-10s

if your dps isn't very fast she'll do a pool before tentacles but if it's good, there'll be no mass ways to get charm between the stagger and tentacles
on a side note if you do the "normal" strategy with timestop, go out of the cleanse orb at roughly 1/3 charm remaining and you'll be in a good position for tentacles
(since the charm you'll take when staggering vykas will put you to about 70-85% depending on stagger speed)

Also 7 is just a good stopping point until you invest more. For a bunch of classes you need lots (read 6/7) damage gems and more of those at higher levels are just insanely expensive
