when you're in tier 3, you unlock the ability to upgrade those tripods, so each one does more damage/meter gain/cooldown etc

later this month we're getting a whole rework of how tripods work

you'll no longer have tripods on your gear, but rather they'll be saved to your character, and you can freely switch between them, similar to engraving books
the update will also double the chance of transferring/learning them

if you've got gold/pheons to spare, its worth trying to buy some +4 tripods, and save into your library, as once the update hits, your library will no longer exist, but all the tripods you had saved in it will be learnt
