A bad gamble I'd say. Chances of getting something sellable is maybe 1% with all the layers of RNG. Let's say sellable for 1k gold, that comes out to an average of 10gold per trade in item.
Compare that with the guaranteed ~22g the GHL is worth.

Argos and Oreha give class engraving accs which means you just have to either get stone plus +9 books and no rainbow stat or you could slice it any way

In T3 you don't have to craft the abyss equipment, you get the purple gear from chaos dungeon and the legendary set from argos

overall don't worry about it, since the honing buff came going through T1 and T2 is so fast.
Just do your dailies, keep honing but don't forget to do the story first, since you get more materials from just doing the story.
It's around 2h for each continent up to punika, and in Punika you area already T3 starting the "real end game".

so i haven't touched any sailing co-ops yet. also haven't done anything with my ships or crew members. Is there a guide for what I should focus on first. which ship/crew. currently ilvl 1390 if that matters

Short sailing guide:
Estoque and Astray are the only good ships for general sailing. Since Astray is expensive AF (around 1.5 million pirate coins to max) you should max out Estoque first.
Eibern's Wound is only used for Ghost Ship; you only need lvl1 with Berald as crew.
Tragon can be slightly useful for Punika Sailing Co-op, but it's not important.

Crew:
Estoque: 3xPupuring+Legendary Cals+Rare/Uncommon Tasha is the best general setup.
Then if you wanna do Punika Sailing Co-op in Tempest waters you just swap out 1-2 sailors (usually Legendary Pupuring) for sailors with high Tempest resist so you reach a higher resist level vs Tempest.

Astray: Relic Blackfang+3xBarakas+Relic Wilhelm.
Then swap Legendary and Epic Barakas for Leg&Epic Wilhelm for Tempest sailing.
