They can be used to upgrade gear.
They don't contribute to artisan energy tho, so they're best used on gear with 0%.
Also, they're most efficient at +15->+16.

Short sailing guide:
Estoque and Astray are the only good ships for general sailing. Since Astray is expensive AF (around 1.5 million pirate coins to max) you should max out Estoque first.
Eibern's Wound is only used for Ghost Ship; you only need lvl1 with Berald as crew.
Tragon can be slightly useful for Punika Sailing Co-op, but it's not important.

Crew:
Estoque: 3xPupuring+Legendary Cals+Rare/Uncommon Tasha. That's the best general-purpose setup.
Then if you wanna do Punika Sailing Co-op in Tempest waters you just swap out 1-2 sailors (usually Legendary Pupuring) for sailors with high Tempest resist so you reach a higher resist level vs Tempest.

Astray: Relic Blackfang+3xBarakas+Relic Wilhelm.
Then swap Legendary and Epic Barakas for Leg&Epic Wilhelm for Tempest sailing.

Splendid panacea makes it so that you dont get a debuff, what I'd do is kite the orbs to group all of them, pop splendid, take all of them

Use them on +15 gear. Efficiency decreases slightly as you go higher or lower than that.
Also, 20 isn't much, a Hard Mode Legion Raid gives 20+12 = 32 fused leaps.

When you're far beyond +15 I'd assume it's worth saving them for Ancient gear (Brel) since that decreases the + amount.

Go for 1385, 1400, 1415 on all of them, step-by-step.
I'm pushing my second alt to 1415 this week myself. All the rest are at 1400.

If you're short on time do rested runs for EVERYTHING.
I recently found that even Una Dailies have Rest.
Use Bifrosts for the two Feiton dailies (1 in swamp for throw, triport for limb touch then 1 bifrost at turn-in in the bar). Then just run those whenever you have 40 rest.
Also, if you skip any activity, skip the Yoho runs. They're by far the least efficient rested activity.

Your best bet for gold is bussing and selling crafts. unfortunately the market is trash rn so you can't really buy mats, craft and sell for a significant profit unless you notice fish selling for super cheap - you gotta do the excavation/fishing yourself.

my system is buying my alts the relevant level 3/4 set of gems and then every time they hit a level 5, if it directly upgrades the 3/4, they keep it, otherwise they send it to my main. if you care about your alts less, just send all of the gems

and if you really want to gear the alt you either reroll with silver (not really worth if you're looking for one specific, but if you need all 11 upgrades then it's good) or sell and then rebuy the one you want at a small price diff

supports (paladin, bard) are generally considered the easiest, especially paladin, and people are far more lenient with respect to inviting you to parties.

Otherwise there's no good/bad job as far as classes go. Assassin->Shadowhunter is the cheapest DPS and one of the easiest. but ultimately play what you find interesting - you'll almost inevitably make alts etc so not like you'll only play one

Tanky and fast classes are generally good starters.
Paladin, Artillerist(Swiftness build) stick out as great starters IMO.
Pally especially since it's easier to find squads for tougher content as a support.

well, +3 tripods are good, at 1415 you get +4, but they are kinda expensive specially for a new player and have 10% chance of hitting jackpot, you can search for a gear piece with 2 or 3 important tripods you use for more damage (always +3), and save on inventory, then resell the gear piece, about the korea update...true, but I would only look for +4, since they are the hardest, which you save on inventory for instant transfer when update goes out, but that depends how fast are you to get 1415
