Like I said it's just generalizes a term from gacha games and trys to apply it into other spheres of gaming. Even if the "win" looks different doesn't make the game less p2w (microtransaction heavy). Like yeah a new player can start playing f2p and get to endgame content after several months of grinding but the other new player could drop several grand and get their character within a couple paychecks. Just the optics alone is enough to deter some people even if the p2w has no bearing on the ability to play the game. People will just view it as you either slave your time away for x hrs out the day to achieve something that someone does in x amount of swiping. It compounds even more when you look at how expensive endgrame upgrades are realitive to the amount of gold you make

if you're a person trying to get +25 weapon on multiple characters... you're going to have less item level and power across your roster as a whole because that is inefficient for power
